My name is Shannon and I’ve been writing Living in the Gray for about three years. I’ve always loved to read and while I enjoyed writing, I never really did it regularly until I started blogging. I started this blog as a place to explore and reflect on the many areas of gray in my life and the world in general. I love to laugh and I also love to be prompted to think about issues from a different perspective. If I can do both of these at the same time, even better! I write about my life as a parent, my kids and husband and our daily lives, my ideas about spirituality, politics, philosophy and, most recently, my experiences living as a Canadian expat in New England. This blog is my place to vent, reflect, laugh, explore my literary side and indulge the part of me that is simply a woman and a writer, not Mommy or Wife or any other job description. I have truly loved connecting with other bloggers via this and other blogs, but this blog has primarily been my sounding board. Writing helps me process life.
I write from the perspective that there is always more to learn. There is much less “black” and “white” in the world than I have been taught and I am learning to embrace the many different layers and subtle nuances that make up my perceptions of morality, spirituality, humor, politics, family and the world in general. I am trying to practise the discipline of keeping an open mind. Of course this doesn’t extend to my ranty days, of which there are many.
