I came over from the post you wrote to your negative visitor. I think this cake is amazing! I went and did the Sam’s club cake this year for my 3 year old, but a homemade cake would always be preferred. I wonder if she was joking. I admire the time you put into yours. It’s just darling!

I was just thinking – how about a christmas wonderland for the holidays? We could get really creative with this whole idea.

OK, I’m not all that creative.

I know! You could come up with a bunch of different themes and give directions and put it all into an ebook and make tons of money!

wow – what a fantastic birthday cake, I want one myself. All guilt should magically disappear in the glowing haze of a major sugar buzz.

HOLY COW! That is the coolest cake ever! I am so making that for my daughter’s birthday. And luckily it is in December, so there will be candy canes galore. And I’m pretty sure I still have a small bag of conversation hearts from V-Day. Who cares if they are stale!

WOW!!!! Avery must have been beside herself! You did an amazing job on the cake!!! I want it for my birthday (and seeing as it just past I will be able to plan ahead for the hearts and canes)!
And the step-by-step post was fun to read and entertaining to see that other people in this world suffer from the same baking woes as do I (such as 1.the cake mix being lumpy, even with ‘job appropriate tools’ 2.half the cake sticking to the pan and re-placing the crumbs like a puzzle 3.the betty icing tube looking ‘melty and oily’ (but since I lack the ability to give a damn I did not practice my technique so much as just smoosh it around to look like a tornado and call it Spidey’s Web-Blaster!).
Excellent cake! You should be very pleased, even if it did stem from motherguilt- we All have it, hon! Without it you’re a Dad.)
