my little anglophone

Avery knows a few words and phrases in French.  We try to encourage her to explore the language, although I only know a few words myself, so I’m not a lot of help.  We hope to put her in French immersion as soon as we are able.  So it was more than a little amusing when she was trying out some of her French vocabulary today and she burst out with:

“First I’ll say it in French and then I’ll say it the normal way.”

Atta girl! That should earn her the title of teacher’s pet in her first French immersion class real quick.  Hey teacher?  When are we going to wrap up the freaky-talk?

    L. is very interested in French. If he can’t read something (ie. the writing is messy or something) he will assume it’s written in French. He also likes to change the language on his DVD’s to French. He asks us how to say different phrases in French. (Except for he says Ferrrr-ENCH!!!) If we don’t know it (which most of the time we don’t), he’ll just make it up himself. The funny thing is, he remembers his “fake” French phrases the next time he wants to use them.

However, I think the reason he is interested in French is because of the fake French accent Greg likes to use when he reads the kids books. (I’m sure you can imagine how boisterous that is!)

I would like to place him in French immersion as well, just because he is so interested in it. However, he has quite a ways to go with English (ha!), so I think he needs to master that first!
