I reeeeally enjoyed reading this article in the Winnipeg Free Press today written by a Muslim woman. Very interesting. It really made me think about my perceptions of Muslim women and if I’m really as open-minded as I would like to think I am. The author had a fabulous quote which I love and will remember for a long time. The West believes that Islam oppresses women. But as a Muslim, descended from generations of Muslims, I have a different story to tell. It starts like this: You say, “The sea is salty.” I say, “But it is blue and full of fish.” Wow. I think that is really an amazing sentiment that is true in many different situations. Anyway, it was the fifth in a series of articles written about Islam, all of which are quite good.
